The Lemosho route stands out as the most picturesque trail on Kilimanjaro, offering breathtaking views from multiple angles of the mountain. Being one of the newer paths, Lemosho emerges as an excellent choice for your ascent. It’s our recommended route due to its perfect blend of fewer crowds, stunning landscapes, and a high success rate in reaching the summit. This route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west, commencing with a lengthy drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. The initial two days involve trekking through the rainforest until reaching Shira Ridge. Continuing, the Lemosho route crosses the entire Shira Plateau from west to east, offering a relatively level and enjoyable hike. Crowds are minimal until the path converges with the Machame route near Lava Tower. Later on, the trail winds underneath Kilimanjaro’s Southern Ice Field along a section called the Southern Circuit before ascending from Barafu for the summit. The descent follows the Mweka route.
